I am a 2021 graduate with a Master’s degree in computer science from Queens College, City University of New York. Upon graduation, like many others, I faced the unexpected challenges brought by the global pandemic, which made finding a job in my field especially difficult. Initially, I found myself working at an e-commerce company, handling technical tasks and administrative documentation. Despite this temporary role, my passion for computer science remained unwavering. In my spare time, I taught programming to children at a local tutoring school, nurturing the next generation of tech enthusiasts.
From May 2023 to August 2023, I participated in Revature’s online training program while living in New York City. In September 2023, I relocated to Plano, Texas, seeking better opportunities to achieve my career aspirations. My dream was always to become a software engineer, and my turning point came when I discovered Revature, a leading technology talent as a service provider.
The training program was rigorous and practical, designed to simulate real-world scenarios and develop job-ready skills. Over the course of the program, I worked on two in-depth projects, which not only strengthened my technical expertise but also equipped me with the problem-solving skills required to excel in the tech industry, preparing me to transition into a professional role seamlessly.
With Revature’s structured approach, I secured a client placement with JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPMC), starting on September 1, 2023, as a contract software engineer. At the outset, I was nervous about stepping into a demanding role at a globally renowned financial institution. However, the technical foundation and professional guidance provided by Revature gave me the confidence to thrive. The concepts and practices I learned, such as Java Spring Boot and React, were directly applicable to my responsibilities, enabling me to make an immediate impact.
As I progressed, I embraced the culture of continuous learning and adaptability, which allowed me to exceed expectations in my role. After a year of dedication and success, I was offered a full-time position with JPMC starting on September 17, 2024, marking a significant milestone in my career.
I am incredibly grateful to Revature for the opportunity to transform my aspirations into reality. Their program not only provided me with the technical and professional skills needed to succeed but also instilled in me the resilience and confidence to take on new challenges.
